3 Ways Your EA Can Help You Achieve Your 2H Goals

All of a sudden, it's July, and we're entering the second half of 2022! With 1H closing and 2H starting, it's a great time to step back and take a bird's eye view of what is happening in your company this year. What's working well? Where could there be an improvement? The halfway benchmark of the year is a smart idea for every business, but it can feel daunting if you're going through all the systems, processes, reports, and performance reviews on your own.

Luckily, your Virtual Executive Assistant is well equipped to help you wrap up the first half of your year and set you up for smooth sailing into the second half.

Complete a time evaluation to understand where your work hours are going

One of a CEO's most precious commodities is time. And when you manage time, it's easier to achieve more significant results and bigger goals, simply and productively. CEOs and founders with excellent time management systems and processes achieve bigger results and goals. And if more significant results aren't enough, good time management shortens the time it takes to achieve them and gives you back your free time.

Your EA can help you track exactly where your work time is going. For example, how much time do you spend in meetings? How much time is devoted to focusing on the business itself? How much time are you taking off to relax and refocus (a remarkably important way to spend your time)? Your EA can help you review how you spent your time in your year's first half and find where to spend it in the second half.

By completing a time evaluation, you and your EA can figure out exactly how you're spending your time and make changes, so you can spend more of your hours on what you want to be doing (and what your business needs you to be doing).

Include a personal time evaluation to ensure ideal work-life harmony

Work-life harmony is a hot topic these days. In fact, studies have shown that everyone – men and women alike – prefers more flexibility in their jobs to spend more time with their families, friends, and hobbies and interests. How often have you gone home in the evening without remembering moments of your day because you were so focused on work? Sure, there are days when we need to give more attention to work, but there are other times when we should devote our attention to our family or just to the things we love.

How much time are you spending at work, and how much are you taking to unwind and decompress? How fulfilled do you feel in life and work? What would you love to do more of (or less)? To answer these questions, have your EA complete a time audit to understand what's currently happening in your work-life harmony and brainstorm solutions so you can intentionally focus on what matters. In addition, spending your time more efficiently at work and home can help you have more quality time with your family or significant other.

Evaluate team connections for a happier, more productive company

Aside from your time, a crucial part of reviewing to improve for the rest of the year is checking in with your team.

Your VEA can help find where your team is making connections – what that looks like currently, opportunities for more connections, and blocks that may be stopping them from even better work. A connected team works more efficiently together.

For example, our EAs have created "prom" committees, planned Valentine's Day bake-offs, and organized ways for companies to get into the community and make connections there.

What activities were made available to your team these past six months to help them connect and get more comfortable working as a team? What kind of team-building efforts were successful and should be carried over for the next half of the year? The next six months can be some of the best for your team!

It may seem small, but creating an environment your employees can't wait to show up for, and work is crucial for a thriving business. And that means fewer issues, happier teams, and an overall more productive business.

We at Excely hope 2022 has been a good year for you and that it continues to be a good year. Analyzing the year's first half is the perfect way to plan for the second half. Your VEA can help make 2022 your best year yet.
